New Bone Taller hastası — boy uzatma öncesi ve sonrası

What is limb lengthening surgery?

Limb lengthening surgery is the controlled opening of the femur (thigh) or tibia (shin) bone and its gradual lengthening with specialised systems. New bone tissue grows in the gap created during lengthening.

How does the process continue after surgery?

  • You stay in hospital for about 4–5 days.
  • A companion can stay with you at the hospital.
  • Physiotherapy and your first assisted walks begin.
  • After a doctor's check, you are discharged once you are ready.
  • Lengthening starts about 5 days after surgery.

After discharge

  • You are transferred from the hospital to our partner hotel by ambulance.
  • Lengthening is applied at about 1 mm per day.
  • From your second day at the hotel, physiotherapy, dressings and check-ups begin.
  • You receive 5 physiotherapy sessions per week.
  • Dressings are done 3 days a week.
  • The first x-ray is taken 10 days after lengthening begins, then one every 20 days.
  • A doctor's check-up takes place about every 3 weeks.

Fixator removal in the LON method

Once the targeted lengthening is complete and the final x-ray checks are satisfactory, both legs are equalised and removal of the external fixators is planned.

After fixator removal you stay in hospital for 1 night / 2 days. You are then discharged and continue your recovery and rehabilitation.

The stated durations may vary from person to person and with the course of recovery.
